We believe that most interesting things happen at borders.
Just look at the borders between ecosystems, nations,
states or environments. The nature and culture at coasts,
for example, are diverse - intensive and always changing, due to
the contact of two major elements: the sea and the land.
We want to learn where the balance between sea and land is,
humans and nature, wishes and resources. And, we would like
to share our thoughts with people outside our home coasts.
In August 2001, we invited photographers from neighbouring
countries to catch the views of people and coasts. We
present you here with a small selection of pictures that
were taken documenting how coastal nature is reflected
through human culture.
